Starting July 22, the Shenzhen Museum of History and Folk Culture and the Former Site of the Dongjiang River Guerrilla Command Headquarters no longer require visitors to make reservations.
This decision marks the end of the reservation system for all tourist attractions and cultural venues in Shenzhen, including 61 museums, 33 art galleries, 12 libraries, and 10 cultural centers, greatly enhancing accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
Before this change, the city’s 17 A-level tourist attractions had already adopted a no-reservation policy, and most public cultural venues had also removed their reservation requirements.
Additionally, six key city and district-level museums, including the Shenzhen Museum of History and Folk Culture, the Shenzhen Museum of Ancient Art, the Nanshan Museum, and the Nantou Ancient Town Museum, will extend their hours of operation until Aug. 30.
The adjustments include opening on Mondays (previously closed) and extending hours of operation, in both mornings and evenings, to offer more daytime and evening activities.
Furthermore, during the summer vacation, the city’s museums and cultural venues are offering a variety of captivating exhibitions that will allow visitors to explore the charm of culture without making reservations.
The Shenzhen Museum of Ancient Art, in addition to its permanent ancient Chinese ceramics and bronze ware exhibitions, will introduce two special displays. The first will showcase ancient beds from Aug. 23 to Nov. 24, and the second is an art-related exhibition that will run from Aug. 6 to Nov. 26.
The Shenzhen Museum of History and Folk Culture will host seven exhibitions in total. Besides the permanent ones, there will be temporary exhibitions.
According to the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, the bureau will continue to enhance the management and services of cultural and tourism venues, thereby ensuring that visitors can enjoy the convenience of no-reservation access.
